Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca Roller but you can call me Becca if you choose. I was born and raised in
I live with my boyfriend Chris and our two dogs,
One thing that I would like everyone out there to know is that I came from a single family home and wouldn’t have it any other way. I was raised by my father, who happens to be my best friend and my biggest role model. There is no one I look up to more. I think that it is important to share this information with everyone because it gives hope to parents out there who are struggling to raise a child or children on their own. If my dad can do it, then anyone can. And they can do it well.
I have wanted to be a teacher since my freshman year in high school when it really became apparent to me just how important teachers are and how many of them out there are in the field so they can “have summers off.” Students in today’s society are changing and I think teaching needs to change with them. Things aren’t the same now as they were 25 years ago and they are only going to continue to become more diverse. Our education system needs people who care and are passionate about their work. That’s why I want to teach; to make a difference.
A couple other things you should know about me are that I believe that animals are smarter than humans and that children are smarter than adults. If you ask me a question, no matter what it is, you will get a honest answer…even if it hurts. I believe the best things in life are not only free, but often things we take for granted on a daily basis. Last but not least I believe that a smile can make anyone beautiful.

You'll certainly get no argument from me on the topic of the changing nature of teaching. If you are preparing for the kind of classroom that you were in when you were in elementary school, you're probably barking up the wrong tree. We need to be constantly reevaluating how we teach and who we teach. To me, that's one of the attractions of the profession. It's also one of the reasons that teaching can be challenging. I hope we al like challenges...
Becca, I enjoyed your intro. You seem to have your act together. Skip, I get most most of my inspiration from my years in grade school and what fun it was. We loved it, my brother and I. I've often thought how nice it would be to do some of those things we did back in the day. In any event, I still plan to incorporate some old techniques into my lessons whenever I get there, and dadgum it, I will still do a cartwheel if everyone gets an A in their spelling test.
